Protecting the planet

We believe that everyone's contribution can make a difference for a better future of our planet. For this reason, we are committed to combining the demands of large-scale technological production with respect for natural resources, promoting the environmental efficiency of our activities and paying special attention to the responsible management of water, a precious resource to be protected. Water is an essential component in the creation and use of our products, which is why we are particularly sensitive to the sustainable management of this precious resource. The transition towards renewable energy sources is a priority, enabling us to reduce our environmental impact. We intend to work more and more towards a circular and regenerative economy, reusing materials in subsequent production cycles and reducing waste to a minimum. We are also working on a set of joint actions which can enable us to reduce and mitigate our CO2 emissions towards the ambitious goal of carbon neutrality.

Reduction of pollution emissions

Our five state-of-the-art production facilities are strategically located near our main markets in Italy (Lodi Vecchio, Lainate, Albissola Marina), France (Poitiers), and Germany.

We produce the bottles for our products ourselves:  the in-house manufaturing of packaging allows us to reduce pollution emissions derived from transportation of materials. In 2024, in our production plant in Lodi Vecchio (Italy) and Poitiers (France), we have manufactured 134 million bottles. This has allowed us to avoid, during 2024, the emission of 1654t CO. deriving from transport.

We measure and report our environmental impact through Organisational Carbon Footprint analysis. Our ESI and ICIM (BioNike) brands are certified under UNI EN ISO 14064-1: 2019 standards for CO2 equivalent emissions. We are developing a comprehensive mitigation plan to reduce our environmental impact across the entire value chain.

Natural Resources

Our production sites primarily run on solar power, with photovoltaic systems and purchased through Guarantees of Origin certificates which guarantee the origin of the electricity from renewable sources.

As for the treatment of water resources, over the years we have implemented advanced technologies to optimise its use of water both in terms of consumption and treatment. At our Lainate plant, we use a reverse osmosis system and we have expanded our rinse water recovery and depuration system (rinse water is the water used to cleanse production gear after production). At our Lodi Vecchio plant, we have implemented a recycling system for rinse water.

We track material usage and production efficiency to identify ways to minimise resource consumption and waste across all of our operations.
