BioNike for Research – Partnership with the IEO-MONZINO ETS Foundation

BioNike strengthens its commitment to support Health research and women in Science with the ‘Women in Research’ project.

We are pleased to announce the winner of the scholarship funded by BioNike as part of the IEO-MONZINO Foundation's Partners for Research program, which has been supporting clinical and experimental research at the European Institute of Oncology and the Monzino Cardiology Center for over 30 years, internationally recognized Italian centers of excellence.
Dr. Marica Rosaria Ippolito, 32, was selected as the scholarship winner for her innovative research in the field of experimental oncology.

Currently, Dr. Ippolito conducts her research at the Genome Integrity laboratory at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO), under the supervision of Professor Stefano Santaguida.
Her project focuses on studying aneuploidy in cancer, a condition characterized by an abnormal number of chromosomes, which affects over 90% of solid tumors.
The goal of her research is to understand how these chromosomal alterations impact cellular physiology and may lead to the development of new therapeutic strategies.

'Receiving a scholarship like those from the IEO-MONZINO ETS Foundation is essential for me and everyone working in the field of research,' stated Dr. Marica Rosaria Ippolito. 'Scientific research is a long and complex journey that requires time, resources, and continuous support. Every day, we face new challenges in the lab, seeking new discoveries that can make a difference in patients' lives. Without the support of scholarships, it would be difficult to fully dedicate ourselves to this mission.'

The certificate award ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 23, at the Aula Magna of the University of Milan, where Dr. Ippolito officially received the scholarship. This important recognition marks a new starting point for her research, which will progress throughout 2025.
During the year, we, together with the IEO-MONZINO ETS Foundation, will meet with the scholarship recipient to discuss and share the results and advancements achieved.
The scholarship, besides representing a crucial opportunity for Dr. Ippolito's professional growth, will play a key role in supporting the advancement of cancer research, contributing to new discoveries and improvements in treatment strategies.

By funding this scholarship as part of the IEO-MONZINO ETS Foundation’s Partners for Research program, we further strengthen our commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing female talent.
This project is a natural extension of our mission, which combines innovation and social responsibility to protect the health and well-being of consumers.
Supporting talented researchers like Dr. Ippolito not only contributes to the development of new cancer treatments but also sends a concrete message about the importance of promoting female presence in the scientific world, offering real opportunities for the progress and excellence of Italian research.
